Collaboration between Music & Data Science communities triggers release of richest and largest music dataset ever shared.

Data Science London and EMI join forces to bring the data science and music communities together. Starting in May 2012, this collaborative project will launch a series of community events, un-conferences and competitions to promote and build a community around music data science.


User generated data and streaming data offer the promise of radically transforming the music industry. Startups and music labels are working hard to apply data science to this data to improve the music experience of artists and fans around the world.

However -despite recent changes in the music industry- public access to music datasets have remained very limited. This lack of openness has hindered music research and development.
